Fast and Furious fans, we have good news: Well racing fans, the talk over the last year or so hasn’t just been idle chit chat, and Universal’s second most successful franchise will indeed be 10-films long. Release Dates for ‘Fast and Furious’ 9 & 10 set, Confirming 10-Film series. Vin Diesel, post made on his Instagram page on Tuesday, who plays the lead character Dominic Toretto in the franchise, not only confirmed the movies but also their respective release dates.
Vin Diesel revealed on Instagram that Fast and Furious 9 will arrive April 19, 2019, followed by Fast and Furious 10 on April 2, 2021.
Last month in January, the action star similarly shared the release date for Fast 8 alongside the film’s first poster depicting a New York City skyline. Fast 8 is scheduled to hit the road on April 14, 2017.
The news comes after Diesel confirmed back in September that he planned on producing one final Fast & Furious trilogy to close out the popular action-packed franchise. “Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision… they have been like family,” he said at the time. “I promised the studio I would deliver one last trilogy to end the saga.”
Plot details are scarce for Fast 8 with Variety reporting that Universal was recently exploring the idea of shooting the film in Cuba. The actioner is set to be directed byStraight Outta Compton helmer F. Gary Gray.
The fact that more movies are coming shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Diesel has repeatedly hinted at giving the franchise, or “saga” as he refers to it, a proper ending. And it’s not like the fans are getting bored yet. The last movie, Furious 7, quickly managed to rake in more than a billion dollars, although with it being Paul Walker’s last movie there was extra incentive for many to go out and watch it.
