Digital payments company PayPal Tuesday (March, 08, 2016) has announced a tie-up with OYO Rooms. Under this, PayPal will help OYO to source payments from global consumers and help Indian consumers make international bookings. Speaking on the partnership, Hamish Moline, regional merchant services, PayPal APAC, said , “The Indian e-commerce sector is at a stage where growth is exponential and with this comes increased risk. Growth of new age businesses like OYO Rooms can be further accelerated if they are protected against online payment risks and frauds.
After this tie-up, customers can make hotel bookings on Oyo Rooms and make the payment via PayPal.
It will also enable customers across the globe to pay for their bookings in Malaysia and other South East Asian countries via PayPal.
“This tie-up with PayPal will assist us in delivering a seamless payment experience through reduced friction during payment process. PayPal is a global leader in payments and we look forward to their network supporting our growth,” OYO Rooms COO, Abhinav Sinha told PTI.
The company will also offer Seller Protection feature to safeguard hotels from unauthorized transactions.
The companies, however, did not provide any financial details.
“Growth of new age businesses like OYO Rooms can be further accelerated if they are protected against online payment risks and frauds. PayPal’s technology protects merchants such as Oyo Rooms against unauthorized transactions and mitigates associated risks.” said Hamish Moline of PayPal said.
OYO Rooms recently started operations in Malaysia.
PayPal said it has a global network of 179 million customers spread across 203 countries.
